Contract Period: October 2023 to March 2024.
Salary: $35,000 for the contract period
Position Summary:
The Community Cares Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Indigenous Curatorial Collective / Collectif des commissaires autochtones (ICCA) in its efforts related to the Community Cares part 2: Recovery Response Fund and the development of a virtual Resource Centre. This position is responsible for coordinating various aspects of the initiative, working collaboratively with Indigenous partners and stakeholders, and ensuring effective communication and coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership Table Facilitation: Collaborate with the Indigenous Partnership Table comprised of 9 to 15 organizational Indigenous members representing diverse demographics, regions, languages, sectors, and fund administration. Ensure effective communication and coordination among members.
Indigenous Protocol Development: Support the development and promotion of an Indigenous protocol that incorporates the cultural Indigenous 5R’s (relationship, respect, responsibility, reciprocity, and relevance) into the delivery guidelines and reporting principles of the Community Cares part 2: Recovery
Response Fund.
Data Capture and Analysis: Collect and analyze data from conversations regarding Indigenous Arts recovery, innovation, and strategies for building back better. Capture feedback on micro-granting and reporting Indigenous protocols, and recommendations for the Community Cares virtual Resource
Centre.
Resource Centre Development: Collaborate with ICCA in the research, development, and programming of the virtual Resource Centre. Ensure that the online space is comprehensive, culturally relevant, and promotes the growth and empowerment of individual Indigenous artists and cultural workers.
Communication: Work closely with ICCA’s communications department to create materials for newsletters, ensuring that important updates and information are effectively communicated to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, protocols, and practices.
- Experience in project coordination and facilitation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms.
- Willingness to travel, if required.
- Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property is an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous artists, editors, and curators is preferred.
- Ability to work remotely and attend virtual meetings.
Contract Review:
The successful candidate will undergo contract reviews at 2 months and 6 months to assess performance and ensure alignment with project goals. Training opportunities and professional development support may be provided as needed.
